Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

New Delhi: Power shares closed better inside the Friday’s consultation.

Energy Development Company(up 4.79%), Indowind strength(up 3.05%), DPSC(up 2.03%), RTNPOWER(up 1.28%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 1.00%), KEC International(up 0.94%), JSW Energy(up 0.85%), NLC India(up 0.67%), Kalpataru Power NSE 0.54 %, Transmission(up o.54%) and ADANIGREEN(up 0.51%) stood most of the top gainers.

Hitachi Energy India(down 6.14%), GE Power India NSE -3.40 % Limited(down 3.40%), Inox Wind Energy(down 2.58%), Adani Transmissions(down 2.28%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.15%), K.P.I. Global Infras(down 2.02%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.52%), NTPC(down 1.26%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.22%) and Torrent Power(down 1.09%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 114.2 points up at 16719.45, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 390.28 points at 56072.23.

UltraTech Cement(up 5.35%), Grasim Industries(up 3.87%), UPL Ltd(up 2.84%), HDFC(up 2.39%), HDFC Bank(up 2.33%), Eicher Motors(up 2.16%), Axis Bank(up 2.12%), ICICI Bank(up 1.79%), Shree Cement(up 1.65%) and Titan Company Ltd(up 1.59%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Infosys(down 1.74%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.74%), NTPC(down 1.26%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.08%), JSW Steel(down 0.87%), Wipro(down 0.76%), Coal India(down 0.76%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.74%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.6%) and Apollo Hospitals NSE -0.60 % Enterprises(down 0.6%) closed in the red.
